Two Chinese scholars will give a series of free lectures on contemporary China at Cal Lutheran University beginning Monday.

Mohe Zhu and his wife, Meiling Liu, are visiting the university for the fall semester, said Edward Tseng of Cal Lutheran’s political science department.

Zhu, who was a faculty member at Zhongshan University--one of China’s leading institutions--is now an administrator there. Liu specializes in library research and education curriculum development at the same university.

The first lecture, “China and the U.S.S.R.,” will be given at 7 p.m. in Cal Lutheran’s Nelson Room.

Other topics include “Chinese Women Today” and “Education in Contemporary China.”

“This is the first time we’ve had resident Chinese scholars, but it is only part of the university’s ongoing effort to expose students, faculty and the community to China,” Tseng said.

The series of lectures continues on Oct. 10 and Nov. 5 and 25. For more information, contact the university at 493-3151.
