A missing Laguna Hills man with the mental capacity of a 7-year-old may have been treated for a seizure at a Santa Monica hospital Monday and released, authorities said.

Miguel Angel Rivera, 24, has been missing since he left his Stockport Street apartment complex Saturday morning to collect aluminum cans, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

A man matching Rivera’s description was reported to have had a seizure Monday about noon in the Pacific Palisades area, Sheriff’s Lt. Bob Rivas said. The man was taken to a hospital in Santa Monica, where he was treated and released hours later, Rivas said.

“Based upon the information we received, we are confident that this was him,” Rivas said.

Rivera’s brother reported him missing Saturday, and witnesses said they saw him boarding a bus that was heading toward a Santa Ana bus terminal, Rivas said.

It was not immediately known who contacted the Sheriff’s Department about the seizure victim, but someone may have seen the missing person report on Rivera and called in, Rivas said.

Rivera is 5-foot-10, 160 pounds, and has brown eyes, black hair, a beard and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a beige polo shirt, dark pants and brown boots.
