Prudential Real Estate Unit Buys 22-Office Chain in Delaware

Prudential Real Estate Affiliates, the Costa Mesa-based franchiser of a national chain of real estate offices, said its Prudential Preferred Properties franchise in Philadelphia has bought the 22-office B. Gary Scott Inc. Realtors chain in Delaware that posted 1990 sales of nearly $1 billion.

The acquisition brings the total number of Prudential Preferred offices to 87, with 3,300 agents, throughout Philadelphia, southern New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Prudential Affiliates, whose franchisees have 13 offices in Orange County, awarded its first franchise in 1988. Since then it has grown to 950 offices, with more than 24,000 agents, in 43 states. Prudential Affiliates’ franchises posted total 1990 sales of $29.1 billion, according to company officials.
