Diamond Bar : Draft General Plan Changed

Share

Responding to the protests of about 100 residents, the Planning Commission recommended removal of a paragraph in the city’s draft general plan proposing the conversion of a neighborhood near the 57 Freeway into a commercial area.

At a commission hearing Monday--the second on the city’s first general plan--many residents said they feared the wording would jeopardize their property values and destabilize the triangular neighborhood of about 200 houses bounded by Brea Canyon Road, Golden Springs Drive and the 57 Freeway. Many said they had lived there much of their lives.

The commission recommended that the General Plan Advisory Committee omit the paragraph when it reviews the draft plan next month at the City Council’s direction. The council asked for a review of the plan after receiving complaints that the draft produced by a private consultant may not be consistent with the committee’s goals.
