Reducing Nuclear Arms
The President’s proposals:
Missile Cuts:
Reduction and eventual elimination of all U.S. and Soviet ground-based ballistic missiles with multiple warheads, an area where the Soviet Union has a large advantage.
Weapons Destruction:
Unilateral destruction of all land-based tactical nuclear weapons, now deployed in Europe and South Korea, and withdrawal of all tactical nuclear weapons from ships.
Stand Down on Bombers:
End to full-time alert of all U.S. long-range bombers.
