SoCal Takes Heat Over Proposed Service Fees

Public utilities are profitable corporations that enjoy virtual monopolies, with guaranteed rates of return from locked-in ratepayers’ monthly contributions.

Then how in the name of all that’s holy can a private company saddled with bad management and failing unrelated businesses be allowed to own a public utility, raise rates and decrease service to line its own pockets?

SoCal’s parent company, Pacific Enterprises, owns Thrifty Drug and Big 5 sporting goods stores. So, now ratepayers are being setup to bail out Thrifty Drug and Big 5!
