Apple Aims to Integrate Photos: Apple Computer rolled out a desktop photo scanner and two new laser printers designed to make it far easier to integrate photographs into office documents. The scanner, based on new technology from a Marin County start-up company called Lightsource, makes it possible to transfer a photo into a computer file at the touch of a button. Unlike current scanners, all the machine’s settings adjust automatically to each picture, eliminating all distortions. The two new laser printers offer much better resolution than earlier desktop computer printers for a lower price. The scanner will cost about $1,300, and the printers are priced at $3,500 to $4,500.
