Sex and the Television-Minded Teen

Share

The producers of these shows are operating under a false premise: that all teen-agers today are “doing it.” That is simply not the case. There is a huge segment of the population of young people who are not having sex. But they are not being represented on TV.

Where is the balance? Where are the portrayals of young people who have decided to wait until marriage to have sex? There are none. Their resolve to wait is being undermined by the unbalanced notion that all young people are having sex. It just doesn’t seem fair that this group of young people who have made an honest and mature decision about their lives should get no TV support.
