THE ‘A’ LIST: UCI took a look at how its athletes are doing academically and found that the women have a better grade-point average than the men. Among the men, tennis players were the best students. Among the women, it was the cross-country runners. . . . Overall, athletes have a higher graduation rate and finish in less time than the average student. “We’re pretty darned pleased,” Athletic Director Thomas J. Ford says.
