Tubers Ready to Lift When the Tops Yellow

Share

Gladiolus, begonia and dahlia tubers are ready to life when the tops yellow and start to turn brown. Dig them up carefully so as not to damage the corns or tubers. Cut the stalks off about an inch above the bulb.

Dust the bulbs with an insecticide recommended by your local California Certified Nurseryperson to discourage insect damage over the winter. Store in a cool, dry place for the winter until planting time rolls around in January or February.
