Sectional Dispute

Share

Being nonsmokers, my wife and I always sit in the nonsmoking section when flying. So, during a recent trip home aboard British Airways, we were greatly disturbed to learn that someone was smoking within the nonsmoking section. Upon investigation, I found two of their flight attendants smoking behind closed curtains in the middle of the nonsmoking section.

In questioning them, they stated that they were in their “designated smoking section” as directed by British Airways. I attempted to explain the obvious to them, that they were smoking within a nonsmoking section and that we paid to be seated in a nonsmoking section. This went on at least two or three more times. Their smoking was relentless.

It is my hope that someone within the British Airways organization will read this and wake up to the foolish way they are misdirecting their affairs.

British Airways responds: The cabin crew does have a curtained rest area, but not in the middle of the nonsmoking area. It has been specifically positioned at the back of the aircraft to avoid any smoke entering the nonsmoking area.
