A U.S. journalist visiting Cuba on a tourist visa was kicked out of the country as the Communist Party held a congress. He was the fourth foreign journalist ejected from Cuba in the past week.

Joel Simon, a reporter for Pacifica News Service, said his visa was revoked Friday when Cuban officials discovered he was in the country working as a journalist.

Simon, speaking by telephone in Mexico City, said he traveled to Cuba to report on the fourth Cuban Communist Party congress that began Thursday in the city of Santiago de Cuba. The Havana government has kept a tight lid on the proceedings.
