Hard-Working Immigrants Need a Hand

Re “Waiting for Peace” about the Salvadoran immigrant (Sept. 30): What a great article and what a great service to all readers.

Every time I see one of those poor people, my heart weeps. Could we possibly help them a little bit more? They are so honest and hard-working.

I cannot pass when they are selling fruit on the street corners as I know they have five and six children to support. Also when I see maids wending their way up Sunset, I stop to give them a ride.

We must all find a way to make their lives with us more livable, not just use them as slave labor.
