Pop Album Chart : Country Pays Dividends for Brooks

Share

Good ol’ Garth Brooks is sure making the rockers and rappers look bad. The country superstar’s “Ropin’ the Wind” is still perched on top of the Billboard pop album chart, outselling the likes of Guns N’ Roses, Public Enemy and Prince. Not only that, his last one, “No Fences,” which moved back into the Top 10 last week, is still there--at No. 10--giving him two Top 10 albums. True, Guns N’ Roses have two in the Top 10 too, but both are new. Brooks’ feat of having a new one and an oldie in the Top 10 is more impressive. He’s so hot that his first one, “Garth Brooks,” is even selling again. It moved up one notch to No. 32.

* 2 Live Crew is back with another album that’s reportedly as sexist as the last one. Of course, that translates into album sales. “Sports Weekend” debuted at No. 25.
