Marsh News--San Joaquin Freshwater Marsh Reserve will be the site of three events this week sponsored by the UC Irvine Cooperative Outdoor Program.

On Thursday and Friday, there will be guided tours of the marsh, which will include a discussion of its importance to the ducks and geese migrating through the area. The tours will be from 1 to 2 p.m.

Also on Thursday, there will be a guided night walk in the marsh, for people who want to learn more about the reserve’s evening ecology. It begins at 7 p.m.

A volunteer work session, involving light maintenance work that includes chopping cattails, repairing dikes and cleaning clogged drains, will be held from 1 p.m. to sunset on Saturday.
