Pick of the Patch : Halloween Tricks, Treats for Children

Share

Kidspace, Pasadena’s children’s museum, is offering fun, fright and frolic for Halloween this year.

On Saturday, children 4 and older can help local artist Tim Billman create a haunted house filled with ghosts, goblins and goons. The workshop will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

If your children haven’t decided on a Halloween costume, take them to Kidspace Sunday, where they can make and paint their own masks to be used for trick-or-treating. Artist Valerie Johnson will display masks from around the world and help the children to create their own masks.

The workshop is for children 3 and older and will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

Then, for children of all ages, storytellers Jennifer Brandt and Jon Reed will spin spine-tingling Halloween tales. They’ll also explain how the tradition of telling scary stories began and how it has changed over time. The one-hour reading will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Admission is $3.25 per person and free for members and children under 2.

Kidspace, which rents space from the San Gabriel School District, is housed in the gymnasium of what used to be McKinley Junior High School at 390 S. El Molino Ave.
