TUSTIN — The City Council this week tentatively approved an ordinance that will allow a higher-density residential development on 24 acres east of Jamboree Road and north of Pioneer Road.
The current zoning allows five houses per acre on the east Tustin property, but the plan voted on Monday night will allow up to 10 dwellings per acre.
In addition, the new zoning will allow apartments or condominiums. The current zoning allows only single-family houses.
Of the 6,414 units completed or under construction in east Tustin, 1,944 are single-family homes and 4,370 are attached homes, including condominiums or apartments.
