Arcadia : Police Videos Approved

Share

“Lights, camera, action,” will soon be buzz words around the Arcadia Police Department.

On Tuesday, the City Council unanimously approved a $22,000 allocation from the drug asset-seizure fund to create two videos of police officers working at the station and in community programs.

Police Chief Neal R. Johnson said that crews from Winters Productions will follow officers around and film them participating in school programs, neighborhood watch meetings, canine training, and other community events. The films will be used as a recruitment tool and for promotions at special events.

“Right now, with the Rodney King-type incidents occurring, the displeasure has reflected on all police agencies,” Chief Johnson said, referring to the beating of a motorist by Los Angeles police officers. “We want to show our best side, to build morale within the department, and gain the community’s confidence again.”
