10-Inch Rains, Hail Hammer at Midwest, Plains

Thunderstorms dumped up to 10 inches of rain Friday on Oklahoma. Showers were scattered over parts of the Midwest, the plains and the Southeast.
In the southeast corner of Oklahoma, the storms produced one-inch-diameter hail and strong gusts near the town of Battiest. There were reports of minor flooding near Calera.
Heavier overnight rainfall in the area included 10.5 inches near Clayton and 9.6 inches in the nearby southeastern Oklahoma town of Broken Bow.
Rain was scattered over the northern Pacific Coast, southeast Idaho, west central Colorado, central Kansas and in parts of North Dakota and South Dakota. Showers were scattered over eastern Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, the South Carolina coast, northern Texas and Florida.
Agricultural land was flooded in Franklin, Wis., when the Root River overflowed its banks.
Snow showers continued over northwest Montana.
Heavier rainfall included 1.05 inches at Ft. Wayne, Ind.; 0.97 inch at South Bend, Ind., and 0.71 inch at Miami.
Temperatures around the lower 48 states ranged from 25 degrees at Cutbank, Mont., to 93 degrees at McAllen, Tex.
The low temperature for the nation was 10 degrees at Redfield, S.D.
