Model of Soviet Apartment Built in Classroom

Brian Shrout’s Special Class Center at Loma School in El Monte built a full-sized model of a Russian apartment in a classroom.
The project started when Shrout began incorporating news from the Soviet Union into his lesson plan.
The fourth, fifth and sixth graders built their model using measurements from a recent newspaper article and donated cardboard cartons.
They have given tours to other students and district guests.
