NO PLACE LIKE IT: Most people who live in Southern California are happy to be here, even though some say things aren’t as good as they used to be (E1). But few boasted in a Times Poll more enthusiastically about their hometown than science teacher Lee Manley, who moved to Stanton 22 years ago. Manley describes it as a “magnificent place to live. . . . I traveled to 46 of the 48 states during World War II, and I didn’t find a single place I liked better than right here.”
