Consumer Prices Rise: Japan’s consumer prices rose 2.7% in September from a year earlier and 0.2% from August, the Management and Coordination Agency said Friday. The agency said the year-on-year rise in September was the lowest since August, 1990, when it had risen 2.9% Prices rose 3.3% in August this year, from the year before. The month-on-month gain in September was the same as August. The September price index stood at 103.4 against the 1990 base figure of 100, which agency officials said indicated that consumer prices remained stable. Looking ahead, they said the government’s targeted 2.4% annual rise in fiscal 1991 would be achieved.
