D.A. Probe of Mayoral Candidate to Be Sought

Hawthorne City Atty. Michael Adamson said Tuesday that he will ask the district attorney’s office to review allegations that Hawthorne Councilwoman Ginny Lambert violated state open meeting laws and then tried to stop his investigation of the matter.

Lambert, who is vying with Councilman Steve Andersen for mayor in next Tuesday’s election, denied both allegations and said she believes that they were timed to undermine her campaign.

Lambert has been accused of secretly lobbying planning commissioners last July to postpone a vote on a controversial condominium project. The allegations were first made at a City Council meeting Oct. 14 by Councilman David York, who is supporting Andersen’s bid for mayor.

Two days after York asked for an investigation, Adamson said that Lambert threatened him with a lawsuit and the loss of his job unless he halted the probe.
