World IN BRIEF : NORTHERN IRELAND : IRA Carried Bomb by Children’s Ward
A 20-pound bomb that killed two British soldiers at Musgrave Park Hospital in Belfast was smuggled through a children’s ward by Irish Republican Army guerrillas, Northern Ireland Minister Richard Needham said. “Clearly there has been a security breach in that a bomb was brought through a civilian hospital into a military area,” Needham said. A paramedic and a driver were killed in Saturday’s blast. Among the 10 injured were a 4-month-old girl and a 5-year-old girl. The IRA hailed the bombing as a major security coup.
