Beijing Officials Plan College Thrift Classes

BEIJING —
Saying young people are spending too much on entertainment, clothes and cosmetics, university officials in Beijing plan to set up classes to teach the benefits of thrift, an official report said Monday.
The English-language China Daily newspaper said a recent survey indicates that 79% of the students’ monthly spending goes on food, clothing, soap, shampoo and social activities.
