COLLEGE BASKETBALL : Zimmerman Leads UCLA’s Blue Team

Rodney Zimmerman, a 6-foot-9 sophomore who is expected to be UCLA’s starting center, had 12 points and nine rebounds Thursday night to help the Blue team to an 81-73 victory over the White in the Bruins’ annual intrasquad game at Pauley Pavilion.

Tracy Murray led the Blue with 23 points. Darrick Martin had 18 points and six assists, red-shirt transfer Richard Petruska scored 16 points on eight-of-10 shooting and Gerald Madkins had nine assists.

Don MacLean, hounded by Petruska, made only three of 14 shots but led the White with 21 points and 13 rebounds. He made 15 of 16 free throws.

Mitchell Butler scored 20 points for the White, making seven of nine shots. Shon Tarver scored 18, freshman guard Tyus Edney 10.
