Hornaday Winner in Season’s Last Race
Ron Hornaday Jr. of Palmdale won the NASCAR Southwest Tour season finale last Saturday at Phoenix International Raceway but finished second to tour champion Rick Carelli of Denver in the overall points standings.
It marked the second consecutive year that Hornaday, 33, a 1986 Modified division champion at Saugus Speedway, finished second on the Southwest Tour.
However, Hornaday was the tour’s leading money-winner this season, earning $39,635 to Carelli’s $37,718. Carelli and Hornaday each won four of the tour’s 15 races.
