Fire gutted an office and classrooms at a Jacksonville Beach, Fla., church, and authorities were investigating whether it was another in a series of suspicious fires that have damaged 27 Florida churches in the last 16 months. Damage to the First Baptist Church was estimated at $200,000, said Gainesville police Lt. Sadie Darnell, spokeswoman for a task force investigating the church fires.
