Many Erred in Building of Homes on Public Land, but Only Public Suffers

Share
Editor's note: The Orange County Board of Supervisors last week gave up claim to land near Trabuco Canyon that had been designated as open space but on which a developer had built 21 homes. These letters represent readers' reaction to the building of these homes on open space

Why the dilemma over the homes built over the designated open space? It’s simple! Demand the title insurance company pay to have the houses moved or demolished and the land restored to its original condition.

Over the years, I have been told by several experts in real estate matters that title insurance companies do nothing but collect fees. Will this case end up a classic example of no benefit from title insurance and loss of more open space?
