Parking on Lawns

Share

Holden et al., have it backwards. The city should award rebates to those who park on lawns. They give the street to others. High density, multi-car families, street cleaning, yard sales, relatives, repairmen and, most importantly, vandalism and theft combine to make lawn parking essential. The lawn parking ban is archaic and should be off the books.

The gripe about devaluation is a smoke screen. Houses are priced out of reach for most people. The aesthetics may suffer somewhat with a car on the lawn. However, the fact is that urban living today is taking its toll. Those who can’t accept the conditions of city life should move to the mountains or desert.

The City Council should not turn the meter maids loose on private property to cite homeowners.
