Nation IN BRIEF : WISCONSIN : Judge OKs CAT Scan of Dahmer’s Brain
A court-appointed psychiatrist has been given permission to electronically scan the brain of Jeffrey L. Dahmer, 31, to help determine if he was criminally insane during his admitted slayings of 17 people in the last 13 years. Circuit Judge Laurence C. Gram Jr., who will preside over Dahmer’s trial in January, signed an order in Milwaukee approving a request by psychiatrist George B. Palermo to perform a CAT scan to analyze Dahmer’s brain. Palermo, working for the prosecution, is one of several mental health experts expected to examine Dahmer before the trial. Dahmer confessed to the killings.
