Opening of the Reagan Library

The Times claims that Ronald Reagan “is regarded as no better than average by the American public.” And the headline “Americans Rate Reagan as an Average President” (Nov. 4) is misleading, unfair and simply untrue.

Sixty-seven percent of those surveyed rated President Reagan as average, above average or the best U.S. President ever. Would The Times please elaborate how a 67% average, above average or the best rating equates into “Americans Rate Reagan as an Average President?”

Those numbers clearly show that the American public considers President Reagan an “above average” if not great President. Please leave out your political slant and report the facts.
