Magic Johnson Confronts AIDS

Magic Johnson should be admired by us all for his honesty and integrity. Now maybe more Americans will realize that anyone can be at risk to AIDS.

I tested HIV-positive in 1987. I take precautions, and I am honest with people about my health. Astonishingly, I’ve realized that heterosexuals can be more understanding than many in the gay community. Being single and HIV-positive can make for a very lonely social life. Thank God for support groups, good medical care and an employer who is very supportive.

Hopefully, with people like Johnson coming forward, more will be done. I’m tired of having friends and acquaintances dying around me. If our government would take care of business at home, maybe we all could be more at ease.
