CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : STOCKTON : Remains of GI Killed in Laos Identified

The skeletal remains of a Stockton soldier shot down over Laos 20 years ago have been identified, the U.S. Army announced. The remains of Spec. Robert J. Engen were returned to the United States on Wednesday, eight months after they were unearthed in Southeast Asia. Engen and Sgt. Walter E. Lewellen of New Albany, Ind., were in a helicopter that went down in Laos 50 miles southwest of Quang Tri on Feb. 18, 1971.
