Council Delays Debate on Proposed DWP Hikes
The Los Angeles City Council on Friday postponed consideration of the Department of Water and Power’s proposed 7% power revenue increase and 11% water rate hike until Dec. 4.
The delay was necessary because the City Council, which needed 12 votes to act on the proposed increases, only had 10 members present at its meeting.
DWP officials have threatened to withhold its annual $100-million transfer to the city’s general revenue fund if the City Council denies the department’s proposed increases.
