‘Suicidal’ Man Sleeps Through Police Siege

OMAHA, Neb. —
Police acting on a tip that a man might be suicidal and dangerous surrounded his home for six hours, called to him through bullhorns and rang his telephone--but the man peacefully slept through it all.
“I’m very embarrassed . . . “ James E. Stennis said.
Police said it all began when Stennis’ sister and brother got no answer when they knocked on his door Sunday. Stennis said his sister, Lavone Stennis, apparently called police and said he could be suicidal and had a gun.
