Bill of Rights

Share

Dec. 15 is a remarkable date for the United States; it is 200 years since the Bill of Rights has gone into effect. On the eve of this date I decided to write to you.

I am 34 and work as an electrical engineer, but much of my free time I spend studying English and the history of America. When I read the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States and the amendments to the Constitution, I was greatly impressed by the wisdom of these important historical documents and by how accurately they reflect my notion of democracy, liberty and human rights.

Deeply respecting the history and traditions of the American people, I’ve learned by heart the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the amendments.

I’m proud of my knowing these documents, which have been serving to the benefit of the United States and influencing the democratic process in many countries of the world for more than 200 years.

I wish the American people happiness and further prosperity.
