GM Near Deal to Make Trucks in China: General Motors Corp. said it is in the final stages of negotiations with a Chinese company to assemble light trucks. If the deal closes, it will be GM’s first manufacturing venture in China, where it has had an office since 1982. Talks have been under way with Jinbei Motor Co. of Shenyang for two years. The trucks would be sold in China. GM would have a minority share of the venture.
