Vietnamese Refugees

Share

As Americans, we should be ashamed of the sight of Vietnamese refugees being forced out of Hong Kong. These people may be “economic” refugees by someone’s definition but have been subjected to persecution in their home country worse than that experienced by the ancestors of most of us in our countries of origin.

We must demand that the Congress suspend immigration quotas immediately and offer sanctuary in this country of refugees for a people who, by virtue of their positive family and religious values and their work ethic, will be a positive influence on our country.

We also should send a formal protest to the governments of both Hong Kong and Britain for the inhumane treatment of refugees. Economic sanctions against these countries as human rights violators are also in order unless they cease deportation immediately.
