Loyola Women Edge Chicago State, 69-65

Loyola Marymount sophomore Christy Fortner made three free throws in the final nine seconds of overtime as the Lions defeated Chicago State, 69-65, Wednesday in Chicago.

The Lions (2-0) were led by senior Jamie Jesko with 17 points. Freshman Tanya White had 14 points and 13 rebounds. Debbie Scott of Chicago State (0-3) led all scorers with 28 points.

Loyola will travel to East Lansing, Mich., to play in the Michigan State Holiday Classic on Friday and Saturday. The Lions open against Western Michigan on Friday at 4 p.m. Princeton and Michigan State will play in the late game. The winners and losers will play Saturday.
