SIMI VALLEY : Youth Wounded in Drive-By Shooting
A drive-by shooting outside a billiards hall left a 16-year-old Simi Valley youth with bullet wounds to his wrists, buttocks and lower legs, police reported Thursday.
The youth, who was not identified, was standing in a crowd outside the pool hall on the 2200 block of Tapo Street just after 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to police reports.
A blue and white pickup pulled to within 50 feet of the group, and a male passenger in the back began firing with a small-caliber automatic pistol, the report said.
The vehicle fled the scene, and the youth was taken by friends to Simi Valley Hospital, Sgt. Arch Morgan said.
The youth was treated for bullet wounds and released to his parents, Morgan said.
Morgan said the incident could have been gang-related. “Drive-by shootings are not commonplace here. They do occur occasionally, but they are certainly not the norm,” he said. “It could be linked to a gang.”
