COLLEGE SOCCER NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS : UCLA Plays Host to Santa Clara Today
The UCLA soccer team will play host to Santa Clara in the NCAA West Regional Championships today at 1 p.m. at UCLA’s north soccer field.
The third-ranked Bruins (18-3) extended their winning streak to 10 games after beating Portland, 3-0, last Sunday. UCLA has won 48 consecutive home games.
Santa Clara (18-1-1) advanced by defeating Fresno State, 3-0. The sixth-ranked Broncos scored their three goals in a 10-minute span.
Santa Clara was ranked No. 1 in the Far West throughout the season, but NCAA officials ignored the rankings and seeded UCLA first in the region, giving the Bruins the home-field advantage and a first-round bye.
The winner will go to the final four in Tampa, Fla., Dec. 7 and 9.
