Barter Deal With the North Approved: The South Korean government has approved a direct barter deal worth $8 million between North Korea and the Lucky-Goldstar trading firm of Seoul, the National Unification Board said last week. Lucky-Goldstar is to export 5,000 color television sets, 5,000 tons of refined sugar and 700 rolls of film in exchange for 10,000 tons of anthracite under a contract with the North Korean firm Yongnam. The deal is the second of its kind to be carried out between the two hostile states after the exchange in July of 5,000 tons of South Korean rice for cement from the North.
