Credit-Card Delinquencies Moderated in September: The number of credit-card holders who fell behind on their payments dropped slightly in September compared to the same month a year ago, marking the first such drop in 2 1/2 years, Moody’s Investors Service said. Cardholder delinquencies amounted to 5.83% of outstanding balances in September, down from 5.86% a year earlier, Moody’s said. But banks charged off 38% more credit-card loans as bad debt in September than during the year-earlier period, Moody’s said.
