The 31st District Congress of Parents, Teachers and Students is sponsoring a workshop open to parents throughout the San Fernando Valley on how to protect children from abuse. The workshop, from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, will be led by Shayla Lever, director of the Office of Child Abuse Prevention for the Los Angeles Unified School District. FISH of West Valley, a nonprofit group that provides emergency services to the needy throughout the year, is seeking unwrapped toys as Christmas gifts for children. Donors are requested to purchase a toy and place it under one of 26 Christmas trees by Dec. 15. The trees are at the Mid-Valley Athletic Club, Reseda; St. James Presbyterian Church, Tarzana; Valley College, Van Nuys, and Prince of Peace and Woodland Hills Presbyterian churches in Woodland Hills.
