City officials on Friday announced six finalists for the job of general manager of Los Angeles’ Department of Recreation and Parks.

The Board of Recreation and Parks Commissioners is expected to make a final selection in January, when James Hadaway, 62, is scheduled to retire after 16 years with the department, which has an annual budget of $96 million.

The finalists include Henry Agonia, director of the state Department of Parks and Recreation; Manuel Mollinedo, director of parks and recreation for Austin, Tex.; and Herbye White, director of the Office of Parks and Recreation for Oakland.
