Mercury Rises to Top: Rock star Freddie Mercury, lead singer of the group Queen, made British pop history Sunday with a chart-topping single three weeks after he died of AIDS. Queen’s 1975 hit “Bohemian Rhapsody,” re-released as a tribute to Mercury, shot to No. 1. It was the first time in Britain that a re-released former No. 1 regained the top spot. Proceeds from the song will go to AIDS research.
