NHL ROUNDUP : Streaking Red Wings Score 4-1 Win Over Oilers

Steve Yzerman scored a goal and set up another, and Tim Cheveldae stopped 28 shots as the surging Detroit Red Wings ran their unbeaten streak to seven games with a 4-1 victory over the Oilers Sunday night at Edmonton.

Niklas Lidstrom and Bobby Dollas also scored for the Red Wings, who tied Montreal and Washington for the most points in the NHL with 44. Detroit has lost only once in its last 18 games.

The Red Wings haven’t had such a successful run since 1955, when they went 13-1-3 in 17 games. Detroit was 11-1-7 in a 19-game stretch from Nov. 27, 1952, to Jan. 11, 1953.

Detroit last lost, 7-3, to St. Louis on Nov. 30.

Kevin Lowe scored for the Oilers.

Philadelphia 4, Chicago 4--Brian Noonan’s second goal of the game came with 2:16 left in regulation time and gave the Blackhawks a tie with the Flyers at Chicago, where six goals were scored in the final period.

Noonan, who put the Blackhawks ahead, 2-1, at the 1:55 mark of the final period, took a pass from Greg Gilbert and scored his fifth goal in three games.
