California Amplifier Inc., a Camarillo supplier of components for home satellite dishes and wireless cable systems, said it earned $471,000 in the fiscal third quarter contrasted with a $536,000 loss last year.

Third-quarter sales grew 42% to $5.4 million from $3.8 million a year earlier, the company said.

Barry W. Hall, chairman and chief executive, said the nine-month earnings were the highest since 1983, when U.S. demand for home satellite dishes was at its highest. Hall attributed the third-quarter results to increased sales of the company’s commercial products, including sales by its European subsidiary.

Separately, California Amplifier said it has entered an agreement with Hong Kong-based Pan Asian Systems Ltd. to distribute the Camarillo company’s products in Asia. California Amplifier expects increased demand in Asia for satellite television products as a result of the launching of the Asiasat satellite in April, 1990.
