Lien Placed on Pebble Beach: Monterey County filed a tax lien against the Japanese company that has owned the world-famous Pebble Beach golf course since late 1990. County officials contend that Pebble Beach Co., owned by Tokyo golf tycoon Minoru Isutani, is more than $3 million behind in property tax payments. The lien blocks any sale of the property until the county receives $365,952 in real estate transaction fees allegedly due from Isutani’s purchase. Pebble Beach officials contend that the property is not worth what the county claims and want the tax bill reduced.
